“He’s a Little Bit Country. She’s a Little Bit…Undead”
“When a reporter gets turned into a vampire, it’s up to her cowboy lover to wrangle up some help.” What a unique storyline. Midnight Ink sent me this press release and I was immediately intrigued. A vampire and a cowboy? All that hits my mind is sunshine and dust and more sunshine..not what I would think about with vampires but husband and wife writing duo Clark Hays and Kathleen McFall has succeeded in writing a unique story among all the vampire books that are out there today.
New York City reporter Lizzie Vaughn had no idea she was descended from Malthus, the vampiric counterpart to Jesus, but soon after she gets turned into a vampire against her will, she finds out that Julius, the leader of an ambitious faction of vampires, is hell-bent (literally) on bringing about the “uncreation” − and needs her royal blood to do it. Equally stubborn though, is her sly, slow-talkin’ cowboy lover Tucker, who sure as shoot ain’t letting Lizzie out of his sight. Taking shelter with Julius’ arch enemy Lazarus (yes, the original Lazarus), they find that a cowboy and his reluctant vampire make a pretty good team in the fierce vampire war that soon follows.
